10:01 a.m. The Ways and Means committee meeting has started with calling of the roll and going straight into resolutions. The meeting is being held on Thursday because of the New York State Association of Counties conference next week in Albany.
10:03 a.m. The committee has passed resolutions to increase Essex County Public Health vaccination rates from $10 per vaccination to $17, and increasing Certified Home Health Agency skilled nursing visits from $190 to $205 and Home Health Aide visits from $50 to $55.
10:05 a.m. There is a state proposal to raise the state age for juvenile offenders from 16 to 18, which would cause changes in the way that 16 and 17 year old offenders are handled in the courts, The county has passed a resolution asking the state to assist municipalities with funding if the law is changed.
10:08 a.m. The board passed a pair of resolution onto the full board concerning the Horace Nye Home, The first was to authorize a RFP for a Phase One Environmental Evaluation of the facility and the other to solicit quotes for title work.
10:12 a.m. The board passed a resolution to increase the number of hours for the Finance Deputy in the treasurers office from 35 to 40. Treasurer Michael Diskin said that it was something that was done for the budget but was not reflected in the salary notice. The increase in hours was needed due to the loss of two positions within the department.
10:16 a.m. Lewis Supervisor David Blades asked for a resolution to ask the state to restrict the sale or use of chemicals that can be used to make synthetic marijuana,which was unanimously seconded.
10:19 a.m. The legislative committee will meet after the regular monthly board meeting, according to committee chair Daniel Connell from Westport. Board Chairman Randall "Randy" Douglas said that he wants to look at five or six certain items that the county can focus on when they are dealing with federal legislators.
10:21 a.m. Douglas spoke about the new funding programs to help with relief efforts from Tropical Storms Irene and Lee throughout the state of New York. He stated that the county will be receiving about $500,000 in public funding and businesses would be able to apply for private funding, which he described as very competitive.
10:24 a.m. The meeting is adjourned in less that half an hour.
