Something to Celebrate
After 125 years, the YMCA continues to meet the needs of the community. Today the Y serves over 2,500 families of all ages, religions and income levels. From quality programs for children, to those that promote healthy minds and healthy bodies for adults and families, the YMCA has evolved with the community.
YMCA Anniversary Initiatives
As the 125th Anniversary Campaign moves forward, the YMCA is eager to begin implementing changes that will improve everyone’s experience with the Y.
• Facility Development: The YMCA is looking forward to adding over 800 square feet of space to the facility. In addition to thousands of families that frequent the Y each year, over a thousand more participate in the programs offered. The facility development will increase the number of programs offered and significantly improve athletic space.
• Going Green: The YMCA is has always made efforts to avoid waste and help the environment whenever possible. The 125 Anniversary Campaign will see an upgraded heating system that will increase efficiency and minimize the Y’s ecological footprint.
• Waterfront Expansion: Every summer hundreds of children enjoy over 800 summer camping sessions at Camp Jericho. Swimming, basketball, archery, ropes course, arts & crafts, soccer, volleyball, hiking, outdoor cooking, boating, canoeing and fishing are just some of the activities young campers experience at Camp Jericho. The 125th Anniversary Campaign will support an expansion of the waterfront, which will increase water activities and improve the overall camp experience at Jericho.
• Bright Beginnings: Even brighter days are in store for the children attending the YMCA’s Child Care program, Bright Beginnings, which provides a warm, supportive environment for infants, toddlers, preschool and pre-kindergarten children. Upgrades to the facility will enhance your child’s first social experience away from home.
