‘White space’ broadband demonstration in Thurman streams fast video, data

Cultural observers have said providing Internet access over contemporary countryside is akin to the rural electrification program of the 1930s. In Thurman, "white space" broadband is envisioned by network engineers to provide the answer — but some local folks have been saying it won't work, and state money shouldn't be spent on it, while others say its vital for education of children, the local economy and jobs development. Dec. 30, an engineer proved that "white space" broadcast not only works, it's far faster and more capable than both DSL and satellite — and cable under many common conditions.
