The currently defunct Wevertown Volunteer Fire Company will be able to sell off equipment to pay bills, according to a Nov. 19 decision by state Supreme Court Justice Robert Muller filed with the Warren County Clerk.
The town of Johnsburg inched closer to filling the void left by the defunct Wevertown Volunteer Fire Company on Tuesday, June 5 when the Town Board agreed conceptually to a redrawn coverage map agreed upon by chiefs of the town’s six fire companies.
The Wevertown Volunteer Fire Company Inc. answering machine is still taking messages, but its members won’t be responding to fires anytime soon.
The Johnsburg fire district departments still have no contract after the chiefs all gathered for a second public meeting to pass their new contract.
