The Adirondack Balloon Festival, enjoying its 38th year this weekend, is considered the premier event of its kind in the nation, because spectators are allowed to get close enough to the action to help a pilot and crew launch their craft. The action will be centered in Glens Falls Thursday, Sept. 22, then move to the Floyd Bennett Memorial Airport in Queensbury for its main launchings and other events Sept. 23-25.
