The Minerva Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad has completed the successful raffling off of a new Hornbeck canoe. The raffle winners came forward Sept. 24 to take possession of their watercraft.
From right to left are winners Jeanne and Steven Sigler and their friend Rob Rice.
Offered up on Minerva Day this past July, the money from this raffle goes directly towards the purchase of a snowbulance that will be used by the department for year-round wilderness emergency medical services rescue operations.
The winning ticket was drawn during the Sporty’s Iron Duke Saloon steak roast Aug. 20. The Siglers of Minerva and Rhinebeck, NY were the happy winners of this classic canoe, crafted by Hornbeck Boats of Olmstedville. At the time of the drawing, the Siglers were in Las Vegas; it took awhile to track them down. Jeanne Sigler said, “We didn’t win in Vegas, but we did in Minerva!”
