On Nov. 26, at approximately 9:49 a.m., Vermont State Police were notified by New York State Police regarding a Fugitive from Justice identified as Trevor Smith, 32, from Westport, and that he was currently residing in Vermont.

Residents of the town voted 245-148 Oct. 16 in favor of a town resolution eliminating the town justice position currently held by Robert Minogue. That will leave Dan Deyoe as the lone town justice, overseeing cases at the Au Sable Forks Community Center Monday nights.
Jay residents will have the opportunity Oct. 16 to decide whether to keep two town justices or eliminate the position currently up for election. A “yes” vote will eliminate the position, while a “no” vote will keep both justice positions.
