Third man to be convicted in death of Keeseville man seeks new council
Michael Rivers, the man convicted on May 30, 2013 of first-degree manslaughter and gang-assault in the death of Keeseville resident Robert M. Rennie requested new counsel at his sentencing Thursday, Jan. 9 at the Essex County Courthouse. The request once again delayed sentencing for the third and final individual to be charged in relation to the father of two’s death.
Former Essex County State Supreme Court Justice James P. Dawson, 68, of Elizabethtown was remanded to Essex County Jail on Sunday, Jan. 5 charged with a felony DWI.

On Dec. 8, at approximately 1:30 a.m., State Police responded to Wesvalley Road, Lake Placid for a report of motor vehicle accident.
Rite Aid robbery in 2012
The Ticonderoga Police Department and Crime Stoppers are offering a cash reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to the arrest of the suspect believed to be responsible for a pharmacy robbery that occurred last November at the Rite Aid Pharmacy, 1161 NYS Rt. 9 North in Ticonderoga.
On Nov. 26, at approximately 9:49 a.m., Vermont State Police were notified by New York State Police regarding a Fugitive from Justice identified as Trevor Smith, 32, from Westport, and that he was currently residing in Vermont.
Plattsburgh city police are reporting that in the early morning hours of Nov. 23 a female SUNY Plattsburgh student reported to her friends on campus that she was possibly drugged and sexually assaulted at the AXP fraternity house, 147 Brinkerhoff Street.

Ward Guy Wilbur, 66, of Saranac Lake was pronounced dead on Monday Nov. 25, after police responded to 19 Morris Way. Angela Ball, 29, of Saranac Lake was arrested for murder later that day.
Police seeking information
Before Schroon Lake youth baseball players can take field next spring, they’ll have to repair it. A vandal drove onto the Little League complex recently, destroying the outfield. The green grass is now a mess of tire tracks and mud.
