The third and final trial in the murder of Keeseville man Robert Rennie, Jr., ended with a guilty verdict against Paul Taylor, 39, of Keeseville. A jury returned with guilty verdicts on all three charges on Oct. 1 after one day of deliberation, murder in the second-degree, first-degree gang-assault and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon. Thanks to a tip from a concerned citizen, 41 malnourished horses have been seized and their owner, Shelley Wing of Essex, has been charged with 41 counts of failing to provide sustenance for them.

Search for missing Massachusetts man continues in Keene

New York State Police along with the Chicopee, Mass. police are working together in a search for an avid hiker who was last seen in Keene Valley. Scott Haworth, 46, of Chicopee, Mass. was reportedly last seen Sept. 5 at the Valley Grocer in Keene Valley attempting to cash a check. He was reported missing Sept. 10 by a coworker in Massachusetts when he hadn’t been heard from since Aug. 24. Chicopee Police Captain Dan Sullivan said they handed over the search to New York State Police when Haworth’s car, a 2002 Red Ford Focus, was located Sept. 5 in Keene at a parking area on State Route 73 near the Round Pond trailhead.

Schroon Lake Teen returns home

The search for missing 15-year-old Cole Anauo has ended with him returning home on Monday, Aug. 19. Anauo was classified a runaway. Anauo’s parents contacted the New York State Police at 9:30 p.m. on Monday night and informed police he returned to their home on Davis Road in Schroon Lake in good health. Public Information Officer with the New York State Police Trooper Jennifer Fleishman said she couldn’t comment on where Anauo had gone or why he had run away.

Search is on for missing Schroon Lake Teen

The search for missing 15-year-old Cole Anauo, headed by the Schroon Lake Fire Department, has been called off. Anauo has been classified a runaway. Chief of the Schroon Lake Fire Department, Rodney Secor said they called off the search because police investigators kept getting conflicting stories. New York State Police continue to search for Anauo.

Elizabethtown teen struck while skateboarding

On Wednesday, Aug.14, at approximately 8:45 p.m., New York State Police responded to a report of a motor vehicle/pedestrian collision on State Route 9N in the town of Elizabethtown. Jonathan D. Lessard, age 28, of Fairhaven, Vermont, was traveling southbound on State Route 9N in Elizabethtown when his vehicle struck Lenore Sicola, 15, of Elizabethtown.

Husband of pet store owner abandons sick puppies

Plattsburgh police are asking the public to help in the search for 6 sick and abandoned puppies in the Plattsburgh area. Police believe Michael Staley, husband of Northern Puppies Pet Store owner Tammy Staley, staged a robbery at the Northern Puppies store and abandoned 24 puppies around the Saranac area.
