BOLTON LANDING After a lengthy search and selection process, the Bolton Central Board of Education has appointed Richard Trowbridge principal of the school.
Effective July 1, Mr. Trowbridge will replace current Bolton Central principal Michael Graney, who will be moving into the post of Bolton's Superintendent of Schools on the same date. Graney replaces Raymond Ciccarelli Jr. who is retiring.
The principal post at Bolton Central has administrative jurisdiction over all levels, from Pre-Kindergarten to 12th grade.
Trowbridge is the lead supervisory teacher at the Stuart M. Townsend Middle School in the Hadley-Luzerne Central School District. He also serves as the middle school guidance counselor. Also, Trowbridge is the athletic director for the Hadley-Luzerne schools.
Trowbridge said he was looking forward to his new position.
“I think Bolton Central School is a fantastic school,” Trowbridge said. “The staff works incredibly hard and I’m impressed with the students."
He added that he has observed that Bolton Central, a small school like he attended years ago, nurtures students to feel empowered.
"The students feel they can do anything, and they do. They walk out of school with confidence, thanks to all the opportunities and the positive influences.”
Trowbridge earned an Associate’s Degree in Liberal Arts from North Country Community College and a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Castleton State College.
Trowbridge received a Master’s Degree from SUNY Plattsburgh, and subsequently earned Administrative certification through advanced graduate studies.
Married with two children, Trowbridge resides in Warrensburg.
