CHESTERTOWN The teachers of North Warren Central School launched a community social gathering in 2008, and it’s since become a treasured local tradition.
The seventh annual Community Pancake Breakfast sponsored by the North Warren Teachers Association will be held Saturday, March 15.
Up to 200 people are served at the event each year, regardless of whether they have a child enrolled in the school. Teachers have annually urged everyone to attend and enjoy the fellowship of community.
The event has also served as a venue for students’ family members to meet the teachers — and their respective family members, many of whom attend.
Students help set up the tables in the school cafeteria, and about two dozen teachers prepare and cook the food and serve it to the public. The meal consists of pancakes, sausage, juice and milk.
This year’s event, to be held from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., features a collection of non-perishable food to be given to the local food pantry.
Breakfast attendees are asked to bring a donation of canned, bottled or boxed foods.
One of the teachers issued a text message this week inviting people throughout the area communities to attend.
“Come one, come all — Free flapjacks,” it read. “Celebrate the first sign of spring — The Teachers Association Free Pancake Breakfast!”
