CHESTERTOWN EThe Chestertown Rotary Club is now seeking new members — to not only enjoy the Rotarians’ weekly socializing, but to help northern Warren County communities through the club’s service projects.
Club president George Stannard said this week that the club is reaching out to potential members particularly in their twenties, thirties and forties, who would like to join — to assure the a vital future for the club.
As well as providing valuable networking among entrepreneurs, community leaders and professionals, Chestertown Rotary has a proud, key role in the lives of residents of Chestertown and surrounding communities.
The club sponsors a variety of events including the annual holiday visit by Santa which draws 400 or more each year, the popular Christmas Memory Tree lighting ceremony.
The club also sponsors the North Warren High School exchange student program, as well as boosting academics there through the Student of the Month program.
In addition, the club sponsors scholarships as well as sponsoring two children for a week-long stay at Camp Colby, an educational summer camp operated by the state Department of Environmental Conservation.
In addition, the club supports other local civic groups including the Helpers Fund and North Country Ministry, both of which provide a variety of services to families with limited income.
Meetings of the Chestertown Rotary Club are held weekly at 6:15 p.m. Tuesdays at O.P. Frederick’s Restaurant at the foot of Loon Lake at the intersection of Rte. 8 and Rte. 9 in the town of Chester.
Stannard said that all those who’d like to join and enjoy the fellowship of Rotary membership — as well as serving the community — are welcome to call him at 744-4013 or contact any Rotary Club member.
