Valley Sports: Keene wraps up Div. III crown

Keene 57, Indian Lake/Long Lake 37

The Lady Beavers (13-3, 12-0) finished off an undefeated Northern Basketball League Division III season in defeating Indian Lake/Long Lake Feb. 11. Hanna Whitney (14.3 ppg) led the Beavers with 19 points with Naomi Peduzzi (11.9) scoring 13, Elaina Smith (9.5) 12, Tucker Geiger (10.4) 9 and Taylor Geiger 4.

Northeastern Clinton 68, AuSable Valley 61

Northeastern Clinton used a 16-7 opening quarter and only allowed the Lady Patriots (13-4, 10-4) to shave two points off the lead throughout the rest of their game Feb. 11. Logan Snow (9.7 ppg) led the Patriots with 14 points while Madison McCabe (9.0) had 12 points and the trio of Meghan Strong (12.8), Taylor Saltus (10.8) and Madison Rondeau scored 11 points each. Sydney Snow added 2 points.

Westport 47, Willsboro 36

The Lady Eagles guaranteed themselves a .500 season in Division II of the Northern Basketball league with a win over the Warriors Feb. 10. Brendee Russell (12.6 ppg) and Ellie Schwoebel (9.8) each scored 10 points for the Eagles (11-6, 7-6), while Hannah Schwoebel scored 9, Felicia Kurth 6, Sarah Looby 5, Emily Rascoe 4 and Sydney Mitchell 3.

For the Warriors (3-13, 2-11), Andrea O’Hara (13.3) scored 17 points as Taylor Bigelow and Tory Wade each scored 6, Stephanie Blanchard 4, Payton Gough 2 and Kathryn Belzile 1.

Boys basketball

Ticonderoga 51, Westport 50

The season series between the Eagles (13-5, 9-4) and Ticonderoga ended with both teams scoring 93 points against the other. In the Feb. 11 edition, it was Westport who saw a last-second shot fall off the rim in the same way Ti did earlier in the season. Anderson Gay (11.8 ppg) scored 20 to pace the Eagles, while Sam Napper added 9, John Doyle 8, Ryan Davis (11.8) 7, RJ King 4 and Thomas Mero 2.
