Jay Last year, Randy Douglas turned down the chance to run for state assembly.
This year, its a potential run for Congress that he has declined.
Douglas, the Jay Supervisor and chairman of the Essex County Board of Supervisors, announced Feb. 4 that he would not be seeking the NY-21 seat, currently held by Plattsburgh’s Bill Owens, who has announced he will not seek re-election.
“The idea of it intrigued me, I felt that I could offer a lot of common sense and looked forward to bringing Democrats, Republicans and Independents together for the greater good of our country,” Douglas said. “It was a tough decision for me, however at this time, I do not feel that running for this position is in the best interest of my family I would like to thank everyone who reached out to me and encouraged me to run. Your faith in me was greatly appreciated.”
