CHESTERTOWN The Tri-Lakes Business Alliance has been busy lining up their events for spring and summer, finalizing some of the dates at their April 5 meeting.
The posting on recently printed placemats of the Alliance’s Wine Tasting event as occurring on April 23 is an error. Instead, a beer tasting get-together is to occur at the Panther Mountain Inn sometime in April. When the date is selected, Alliance members will be notified and it will be published in the Adirondack Journal.
This year’s Car Hop events sponsored by the Alliance will take place on the second Friday of each month, beginning May 9 and run through September.
An ATV Poker Run to benefit the Helper’s Fund will be held May 10 so as not to interfere with high school graduations and the annual local fishing tournament.
Scheduled to begin June 18, the Chestertown Farmers’ Market now has over 20 vendors signed up. The market sessions are to be held every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. until mid-September.
At the April 5 meeting, it was noted that the Tri-Lakes Business Alliance has submitted five entries to the Adirondack Park Agency’s “Best Community Events contest — These local events, enjoying substantial success, are: Brant Lake Winter Carnival, Rum-Runners’ Weekend, the Warren County Bicentennial Celebration & Parade in Pottersville, the Krazy Downhill Derby, and Horicon Day.
It was noted that Bob Olson would be attending the awards presentation, occurring on Local Government Day April 10 at the Crowne Plaza in Lake Placid. Alliance members said they had high hopes for an award, considering the events’ creativity, remarkable success, and how they engaged local citizens and enhanced community bonds. It was also noted that the North Warren Chamber of Commerce is now selling raffle tickets for a Hornbeck Canoe.
Alliance members discussed staging events at the Carol Theater, as an initial step in reviving the historic venue. It was suggested that a public meeting be held to gauge opinions regarding revitalizing the theater. A discussion was held on how much money the Alliance might contribute to this project.
