Lady Eagles look to reclaim Class D title, make state run

CHAZY EAGLES

— The Chazy girls varsity soccer team will look to reclaim what had been theirs for eight years prior to last season, the Section VII, Class D crown.

“Our goal is to win sectionals and make it to post season play,” Chazy head coach Karin Sherman said. “We lost two starters and we have many returners with experience.”

Sherman said the main focus for the team will be to improve their performance in the front third of the field.

“We need to score first and set the tempo,” she said.

Sherman said that she expects to see solid contributions this season from returning players Hannah Laurin, Kinnan Latremore and Rachel Pombrio (pictured).

Seniors on the Eagles roster include Shelby Gonyo, Heidi Kreckel, Amber Polomsky Maritza Lester, Christine Pilon, Kailee Bechard, Bailey Stalker, Cailee LaPorte, Courtney Gilmore and Logan Baker.

Juniors include Rachel Pombrio, Katelyn Therrian, Kayleigh Bell, Paige Barcomb, Ariana Hagen, Kenna Barnes, Hannah Laurin, Kinnan Latremore, Olivia Blais, Maura Trombley, Abbey Snide and Skyler Thomas.

Hannah Hayes and Gwen LaPier are sophomores, and are joined by freshmen Bailey Pepper and Lilly Hayes along with eighth grader Lindsey Gilmore.

Sherman, who has compiled a varsity coaching record of 95-7-2, will be assisted by Morgan Roussy.
