— The Battle of Plattsburgh Commemoration Committee has been busy gearing up for the upcoming Battle of Plattsburgh commemoration, marking the 199th anniversary of the critical War of 1812 battle.

A full calendar of events is as follows:

Friday, Sept. 6

6- 9 p.m. - British Invasion Dinner, live music, American Legion Post 20, Quarry Road, Plattsburgh

Saturday, Sept. 7

10 – 11 a.m. - Dewey’s Tavern memorial ceremony and dedication, intersection of Rte. 276 and Prospect Hill Rd., Champlain

1– 2 p.m. - Culver Hill memorial ceremony and dedication, Culver Hill Historic Park, in Beekmantown (State Rt. 22, 2 miles north of intersection of Rte. 374)

2 – 3 p.m. - Halsey’s Corners memorial ceremony, corner of Halsey Court and Boynton Ave., Plattsburgh

5- 6 p.m. - Welcome ceremony at the encampment of British re-enactors at the Scott House, the site of General Prevost’s temporary headquarters, in Chazy

7 – 9 p.m. - Towne Meeting concert, Chazy Central Rural School, Chazy

Sunday, Sept. 8

9a.m. - 3 p.m. - British encampment on site of General Prevost’s temporary headquarters, Alexander Scott House, 9685 Rte 9, Chazy

2 – 4 p.m. – Nine Days a Soldier: The Story of Aiken’s Volunteers in the War of 1812, book lecture and signing by Dr. Joy Demarse, War of 1812 Museum, 31 Washington Road, Old base Museum Campus, Plattsburgh

7 – 8:30 p.m. – Rockets, Bombs, and Bayonets: A Concise History of the Royal Marines and the British and Canadian Forces in Defence of Canada, book lecture and signing Alex Craig, War of 1812 Museum, 31 Washington Road, Old base Museum Campus, Plattsburgh
