The Thurman Quilting Group holds their meetings every Monday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the town hall. Coffee, tea and light refreshments are served. For more information, contact Myra at 623-2633.
The county-sponsored bus service to Glens Falls will next run Friday, Oct. 25 and is free to seniors age 60 and over. This service will take you to just about any location in Glens Falls, whether it’s grocery shopping, a visit to a beauty salon or a doctor’s appointment. Thurman Connections Snowmobile Club holds their meetings on the last Friday of the month at the clubhouse on Bear Pond Road. The next meeting is Oct. 25 at 7 p.m. For details, contact Doug Needham at 623-9234.
Norma Galusha reminds folks the Sugar Loaf Senior Group holds their meetings once a month at the Thurman Town Hall on the third Wednesday at 5 p.m.
Over the fence
At the last Town Board meeting, Thurman Emergency Medical Services Vice President Barbara Farrell announced that the agency now has three Emergency Medical technicians qualified in administering Basic Life Support.
As residents are aware, the storm that passed through Thurman during spring 2011 washed out many roads and bridges and landlocked many for weeks. Well, there is good news in sight for River Road residents. Reconstruction on the River Road bridge that was washed out is underway. It has been reported that the project is to be completed within five weeks.
Hats off to the Thurman residents who have dropped off their box tops and labels for education. I stopped into the Town Hall to retrieve these valuable coupons and much to my surprise there were over 200! Please remember that Campbell’s soup labels are also being collected for redemption.
