GLENS FALLS The region’s representative in Washington D.C. is scheduled to be in Glens Falls Friday Nov. 22 to talk with area residents and business executives.
U.S. Rep. Bill Owens (D-Plattsburgh) is slated to participate in the Adirondack Regional Chamber of Commerce’s annual “Dialogue with the Congressman” event, to occur from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Queensbury Hotel, 88 Ridge St.
Owens is expected to talk about issues pending before Congress, particularly those affecting businesses and commerce. During the session, he will be accepting questions from the audience.
A representative from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce is scheduled to present Owens with the national chamber’s “Spirit of Enterprise” award which is based on whether federal legislators have tallied a business-friendly voting record. Annually about half the 400-plus congressional representatives receive the award.
“In the face of high-stakes politics and difficult choices, Congressman Owens provided America’s job creators with a strong voice in Congress, U.S. chamber CEO Thomas Donohue stated in a news release.
