May the players in Youth Football treasure their experiences for a lifetime

To the Editor:

As we have reached the end of football season, I am retiring as coach of the senior squad of the Warrensburg Football League.

I am very proud of this team as well as all the others that I have coached before them. Seven years is a long time, and it has gone by so fast.

The teams have had so many great kids and great stories — and there have been so many emotions I have seen and heard.

It is only fitting that I thank assistant coaches Joe Sutphin and Pat Powers.

Thanks and best wishes for the future to the 2013 fifth- and sixth-grade Little Burghers: Hunter McKenna, Thomas Moore, Bill Cameron, Maclane Baker, Zach Shambo, Colby Shepler, Jackson Corriveau, Zach Carpenter, Charlie Davis-Horstman, Sean Powers, Bradley Roach, Mikey Tyrell, Jordan Mallory, Robby Benson, Jesse Griffin, Jaron Griffin, Hope Boland, Reece Rundell, Darren Prosser, Damien Bills, Daniel Westcott, Garek Carter, Thomas O’Sullivan, Wyatt Baker, Carter Carpenter, Zach Barber, Antonio Devalle, Jackson Czuba and David Luck.

Special appreciation goes out to Youth League secretary Susan Shepler who does so much for this organization, as well as the volunteers who work the concession stand all season: Darcy Baker, Jodie Curtis, Heather Turner, Laura Moore and our griller Randy Mallory.

Without these individuals, our league would not exist.

I wish all the children in the league the best in their future endeavors, and I hope that we have helped them become more than athletes — productive and responsible members of society.

May they never forget all the great experiences they’ve enjoyed in the Warrensburg Youth League, and may their years in the sport provide treasured lifelong memories.

Gary L. Baker, Warrensburg
