Motorists are advised that a half-mile stretch of Route 9N between Route 74 and Burgoyne Road in Ticonderoga, Essex County, will be closed beginning Monday morning, May 20, for a culvert replacement project.

Motorists are advised that a half-mile stretch of Route 9N between Route 74 and Burgoyne Road in Ticonderoga, Essex County, will be closed beginning Monday morning, May 20, for a culvert replacement project.

The closure of Route 9N in both directions is expected to remain in place until the afternoon of June 2. A detour will be posted for commercial traffic and through-traffic, taking motorists onto Route 74/22, then to County Route 43 (Shore Airport Road) and then onto Route 9N/22.

Local traffic may utilize local roads.

Local businesses and residences along this stretch of Route 9N will still be accessible.

Motorists are reminded that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver’s license. It is imperative that motorists remember to drive carefully through this construction zone, for their own safety and the safety of workers.
