Crown Point has observed Memorial Day for 145 years, but the 2013 festivities will mark an even bigger anniversary. Crown Point is celebrating the 225th year of its founding.

Crown Point has observed Memorial Day for 145 years, but the 2013 festivities will mark an even bigger anniversary. Crown Point is celebrating the 225th year of its founding.

— Amusement rides, entertainment and vendors will again take over the park beginning at noon. Penelope the Clown will be on hand for children throughout the day.

The parade, which will start at Monitor bay and proceed along Route 9N to the park, will start at 2 p.m. along with a youth bike contest.

Following the parade there will be band demonstrations in the park at 3 p.m. At the same time birthday cake, marking Crown Point’s 225 years, will be served to everyone.

Joe McGuinness and the Longshots will perform 4 to 6 p.m. to conclude the Memorial Day activities.
