Kriff explained that these mattresses are often better for those who prefer to sleep on their backs since the coils have less give than memory foam.
Coil spring mattresses don’t hold body heat as much as foam mattresses, either, making them a potentially better choice for warm sleepers.
Kriff opened America’s Mattress in 2004 in the Blockbuster Video plaza, and moved his operation to Weed Street in Plattsburgh in 2009.
He has sold furniture his entire life, a venture that his family began in the 1920s.
He used to own Kriff’s furniture downtown, but decided to get into mattresses after the Serta Mattress company approached him about opening a store in Plattsburgh.
“It’s a locally owned business, but it’s supported by its supplier,” Kriff said.
America’s Mattress also sells headboards, pillows, mattress protectors, bed frames and adjustable beds.
