Elizabethtown — The Essex County Sheriff’s Department was honored for its years of work with the District of Vermont of the U.S. Marshals Service Feb. 25.
Marshals David Demag and Insup Shin presented Essex County Sheriff Richard Cutting with a certificate of appreciation.
“We wanted to take this opportunity to recognize Sheriff Cutting and his very capable staff for his professionalism and his support to the United States Marshals Service,” Demag said. “The Essex County Jail is one of two that we have built our program around to bring detainees into the regional courts in the Vermont District. We selected this facility based on the professionalism, organizational skills and their can do attitude.”
Cutting said that through the cooperative efforts of Essex County and the Marshals service, the county jail ahs housed about 830 inmates brought in a little over $4.6 million in revenue.
“They have presented us with some very challenging inmates at times,” Cutting said. “We have always been able to help them out and they have helped us out when they can. It has been a very good working relationship.”
