Keeseville As the statue of a soldier watched over them, members of the Keeseville Elks Lodge No. 2072 honored the country and flag during its 55th annual Flag Day ceremony Saturday, June 15.
“We come together to celebrate the history of this flag, to honor the anniversary of its birth and the accomplishments that have been achieved under it,” Elks Exalted Ruler Anne King said.
The ceremony included presentations about the history of the flag, which included a number of flags from the nations past which were carried onto the site by Jack Finnegan and Jamie Manning, members of Boy Scout Troop 5 in Keeseville.
There was also a flag folding ceremony by members of the lodge as well as a remembrance of soldiers who have been taking as prisoners of war or are listed as missing in action.
