Willsboro Central School student artwork can still be seen on the walls of the Champlain Valley Senior Community, which will host its grand opening June 15.
continued “It has turned out better than I ever pictured it would be, the historic architecture and state-of-the-art assisted living facility really compliment each other,” said Schwartzberg. “When people take the tour they are going to see the original chalk boards with writing saved from the last day at school in the building.”
The facility is also the only in the North Country with an enhanced assisted living license that Schwartzberg said allows it to provide a wider variety of service and can take in people who need a higher level of care.
The Stonebrook Company has built a beauty salon, a chapel, an ice cream parlor, a movie theater and a stage for community performances in the former school gymnasium that has also been transformed into a dining room.
The building also features a doctor’s office, emergency generator, elevator, handicap accessible bathrooms and state-of-the-art security.
