ESSEX — Macademy has opened its doors at 2307 Main Street in Essex, offering technical support for the local community.
Macademy, owned and operated by Ken Hughes, “The MacMan,” is opened Wednesday through Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m.
The business is designed to offer courses and instruction on modern technology, especially Apple.
“Macademy is an adult education technology academy dedicated to supporting individuals with any and all technology questions they have related to those individuals with any and all technology questions they have related to those in technology use so they don’t have as many questions and can solve problems themselves,” Hughes said. “There is no business of its kind around that offers as extensive a course selection as Macademy. Additionally, I am dedicated to education on Apple technologies which is rare in this area.”
Hughes believes the combination of his talents as a professional foreign language educator and technology workshop presenter allow him to meet the needs of local community members in a unique way.
The business allows people to learn more about technology in a relaxed atmosphere.
“Macademy is a student-centered learning environment that encourages questions and sharing of experiences in a fun and relaxed way,” Hughes said. “Because the courses are in the evening, free food and drink are offered as well as free access to Wi-Fi. Courses are scheduled based on demand, so if any individual would like a course they can call to set something up.”
