Also a standout on the Bolton calendar is the acclaimed Matt Finley and Rio Jazz in concert at 7:15 p.m. July 30. Finley, a remarkable flugelhorn player, leads his band in playing jazz Brazilian and American style — both standards as well as originals. Rain location for concerts is the Bolton Community Center off Edgecomb Pond Road.
Farmers Market is intriguing
There are a lot of reasons to visit the Bolton Farmers market held 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Fridays through summer at Blessed Sacrament Church on Goodwin Avenue. The market features local fresh produce along with meats, fish, wine, gourmet foods, cheese, breads and baked goods, plus naturally grown meat. Live music, cooking demonstrations and local crafts complete the shopping experience, but perhaps the greatest attraction is the socializing that takes place.
For information on the market, see: www.boltonlandingfarmersmarket.com or contact market manager Penelope Jewell at 480-9118, or: email@example.com
Thank you, Jane Gabriels!
A new wall-hanging “Dragonfly Pond” is now on display at the Bolton Community Center, thanks to the artistry of Bolton resident Jane Gabriels, who donated her time to create it for the town.
A reception to show appreciation for Gabriels and her work will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday July 21 at the community center off Edgecomb Pond Road, and all are invited. The artwork was made entirely of felt pieces in varied colors and replicates the view of pond from the community center. Measuring about 11 feet wide and four feet high, the wall hanging was a labor of love for Jane as it took over five months last fall and winter for to create.
