Donations sought for Jamboree
Donations of items to be auctioned at the annual Smoke Eaters’ Jamboree are now being sought by the Warrensburg Volunteer Fire Company.
All kinds of items of value are welcome, including tools, household goods, appliances, boats, vehicles, electronic goods, games, sporting goods and furniture — new and used. Jamboree auctions in years past have also included such items as firewood and construction materials.
Set for the evening of Friday July 26, the auction also includes services provided by area businesses and individuals.
To arrange pickup or dropoff of items to be auctioned, call 623-9766 soon.
Set for Friday July 26 through Saturday July 27, this year’s Smoke Eaters’ Jamboree —the 51st annual edition — includes a midway, games of chance, entertainment, music by the AudioStars, fireworks, a barbecue, plus rides and games for children.
House & Garden Tour slated
To celebrate the Bicentennial of both Warren County and the Town of Warrensburg, a House & Garden Tour is to occur in town from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday July 21.
This self-guided tour will feature both public and private buildings and gardens established during the past 200 years or earlier, event organizers said this week.
In anticipation of the 200th anniversary of both the town and county, some residents have restored or enhanced structures and landscapes. A number of them have planted Black-Eyed Susans and blue Morning Glories, named the official Bicentennial flowers of the county and town respectively.
Brief histories of the buildings and the gardens will be featured.
Tickets for the tour are available prior to July 1 at the Warrensburg Farmers’ Market (on Friday afternoons), Warrensburgh Museum of Local History, and Riverside Gallery. On July 21, tickets are to be available at Cornerstone Victorian Bed & Breakfast on Main St.. For details, contact Teresa Whalen at: 466-5497 or email@example.com.
