Dinner to benefit Morel family

Bolton Central School’s Key Club and Parent Teacher Organization are working together to hold a benefit spaghetti dinner from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday Jan. 29 in the school cafeteria.

All proceeds will go to the family of Chuck Morel to help cover medical expenses. Morel, who is Bolton Central’s Facilities and Maintenance Supervisor, is battling lung cancer. The cost is $8 for adults, $5 for students.

For details, contact Michelle Borgh, Key Club advisor, or PTO President Melanie Persons at 644-2400.

Stop aquatic hitchhikers

The Bolton Landing Chamber of Commerce will be doing their part to help educate visitors on protecting Lake George against invasive species.

The Chamber members are on board with the Lake George Association's program to "Stop Aquatic hitchhikers". The preventive measures for watercraft that protect Lake George from environmental disruption are achieved in three easy concepts: “clean, drained, and dry.”

Assuring that all boat and personal watercraft meets these three standards will help immensely in preventing the spread of Eurasian watermilfoil, Asian Clams, Zebra Mussels and other invasives like quagga mussels — all of which are choking out other lakes in the state.

The Chamber plans on distributing this information to its entire membership, as well as prompting its members to link their websites to the Lake George Association's webpage, www.protectlakegeorge.com — and to encourage lodging businesses to distribute these vital instructions to their guests prior to arrival.
