Elizabethtown Three local basketball teams will be playing in the Class D quarterfinal playoffs Friday, Feb. 22 for Section VII.
GIRLS
In girls basketball, seventh seed Westport (8-10) will travel to face second seed Indian Lake-Long Lake (16-1) at 6 p.m. at the Indian Lake Central School. Fifth seed Minerva-Newcomb (10-6) will travel to play fourth-seed Keene (13-4) starting at 6 p.m. Willsboro will play at Moriah at 6 p.m.
Semifinal winners will meet for the sectional championship Friday, March 1, at 4 p.m. at the PSUC Fieldhouse.
BOYS
In boys basketball, the Indian Lake-Long Lake Orange boys basketball team beat Lake Placid Feb. 20 in Indian Lake by a score of 42-22 in the first round of playoffs to move to a quarterfinals match Feb. 22 at 7:30 p.m. in Elizabethtown. The Orange scorers were: Farrell 21, Moore 9, Sandiford 6, Seaman 4 and Hart 2. Moore had one three-pointer.
Wells won at home against Minerva-Newcomb 56-29 in the first round Feb. 20. Scoring for the Mountaineers were: Williams 9, Moulton 7, Martinez 6, Vanderwalker 4, McCall 2 and Ruzbacki 1. Moulton had one three-pointer.
In other first-round games, Westport beat Willsboro 43-36 and Chazy won against Keene 59-30.
In other quarterfinals matches Feb. 22, Westport travels to Schroon Lake (1 p.m.), Chazy wlll be at Crown Point (6 p.m.), and Wells will play at Moriah (7:30 p.m.).
Semifinals will take place Wednesday, Feb. 27, at AuSable Valley Central School, while the sectional finals will be at the PSUC Fieldhouse March 2, at noon.
