Brant Lake man arrested for first-degree sexual abuse

— The Warren County Sheriff's Office arrested William J. Morehouse, 50, of Tannery Road, Brant Lake, on two counts of first-degree sexual abuse, a felony. Morehouse is accused of having sexual contact with two different children, both 4 years of age at the time, once in the spring of 2012 and once in December 2012.

During interviews with the children, they disclosed that Morehouse had touched them inappropriately. Morehouse was subsequently interviewed and made admissions to investigators regarding the incidents. Morehouse was acquainted with the children.

Morehouse was arrested and arraigned before the Town of Horicon Justice Court. He was remanded to the Warren County Correctional Facility for lack of $25,000 bail/$50,000 bond. He was scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 13.

Members of the Warren County Criminal Investigations Unit made the arrest, with assistance in the investigation by the Warren-Washington County CARE Center, the New York State Police, and the Warren and Essex County Child Protective Services.
