“Our board members live on the lake, swim in it and drink its water,” LGLC Executive Director Nancy Williams said. “We all realize the importance of working together to safeguard the health of the Lake.”
In September 2012. the Park Commission proposed mandatory inspections and decontamination of all transient boats to be launched into Lake George. Through the use of boat washing stations and staffed inspectors, invasive species such as the Asian clam, zebra mussels, and Eurasian milfoil would be spotted and washed off, preventing their introduction into the lake.
“Prevention is key,” Williams continued. “The cost of eradication or management is huge.”
