DEC rangers conduct rescues in wilds around Lake George

— Two DEC Forest Rangers responded to Pilot Knob with an ATV. The two women were located 1.5 miles from the trailhead.

Hunter returned home, exhausted

On Nov. 7 at approximately 7:41 p.m., authorities received a report of an overdue hunter who was believed to be in the Lake George Wild Forest. George Miller, 68, of Granville had gone to hunt on Remington Ridge in the town of Fort Ann through Dacy Clearing and apparently became lost.

Two DEC Forest Rangers responded, began at search, and at 10:45 p.m. they made voice contact with Miller and located him about 15 minutes later. He was in good health, but extremely tired — so the walk back out to the trailhead took a long time, the rangers reported.
