Honor Flight Christmas Party | Keeseville Column

Received an email from Chris Maron, Executive Director of Champlain Area Trails, informing me that the entries for the photography contest are all in and can be viewed online at champlainareatrails.com. From there hover your mouse over the word “contest” and you can select from the three categories to view the photos. You are encouraged to vote on your favorite which could win the People’s Choice Award. In early January, CATS will announce the winners of both the People’s Choice and regular contest as judged by Paul Martin Lester, award-winning photojournalist and California State University Fullerton professor. Best of luck to all who entered.

Also received an email from Danny Kaifetz, Director of the North Country Honor Flight, informing me of the Honor Flight Christmas Party Saturday, Dec. 21, from 4 to 7:30 p.m. at the VFW Post located at 125 Boynton Avenue in Plattsburgh. As Mr. Kaifetz writes, “just a notice, this event is already filling up very quickly with over forty-five WW-II Veterans signed up and bringing spouses and family and one hundred guests so far. If you plan to attend, even if you are an Honor Flight Director and member please call Pauline Stone and RSVP at 562-8598. We only have enough room for 150 or so and will be absolutely full. This is going to be a very memorable evening, no business, no speeches, nothing but a great meal and friendship and an evening spent together to enjoy the bond we have formed over this past year doing such a remarkable job of honoring the greatest heroes we have ever known. See you there!” Again, my thanks to Mr. Kaifetz and the rest of the North Country Honor Flight for running such a top notch operation.

As the holiday shopping season winds down for another year, I do remind everyone of the great stores we have right here in Keeseville as well as the wonderful restaurants that do offer gift certificates.

Enjoy the snow, cold and beauty of our winter wonderland. Happy holidays everyone.
