continued “This one tower can’t meet all the town’s telecommunications needs, and while they may look at locations to do a second tower to fill in gaps in service, they are currently backlogged in terms of building an additional tower,” Corey said. “However, the town would certainly entertain interest from other carriers for under-served parts of the community.”
Residents have been relying on signal boosters in order to receive reliable cell service in the area. The Town Hall has one, and many locals make use of it.
“I’ve seen people come and sit on the front steps, stop in the parking lot, or come in if we’re open,” Corey said.
The new tower will make such trips for cell phone service unnecessary for many residents.
“The Town Board, the Planning Board, and I have been doing everything in our power to support the building of a cell tower in Minerva and are very happy to see this moving toward becoming a reality in the near future,” Corey said.
