Golf tourney to boost outreach agency

The North Country Ministry Benefit Golf Tournament is set for Sunday Sept. 15 at Cronin’s Golf Resort in Warrensburg.

The competition is going to be held in as a four-person scramble with a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. The entry fee of $85 includes cart, light lunch, beverages, dinner, prizes and gifts. A silent auction will be held at the event. For details or to register, call Pat Nugent at 668-2765.

North Country Ministry is an ecumenical, not-for-profit organization that provides services without discrimination to individuals and families in need in northern Warren County. The organization is based in North Creek and operates a center in Warrensburg.

The leading outreach agency in northern Warren County, North Country Ministry serves over 1,000 people monthly and covers an area greater than 600 square miles. Their services include supportive counseling, advocacy and referral, a family clothing shop, furniture donations, an emergency assistance fund, the Baby’s Place, parenting support, and adult living units.

Back to School supplies needed

North Country Ministry is now seeking donations of school supplies, as it looks forward to providing for the needs of area students that are soon headed back to school.

Supplies now being sought include: spiral notebooks, #2 Ticonderoga pencils, crayons (24 count boxes), children’s scissors, large glue sticks, small pencil sharpeners with covers, highlighters, 3” and 1” binders, pencil erasers, washable markers, new backpacks, composition notebooks, loose-leaf notebook paper, colored pencils and 3”x5” index cards. Donations can be dropped off at Sacred Heart Church in Lake George, or in Warrensburg, St. Cecilia’s Church or North Country Ministry’s outreach center, both on Main St.
