CHESTERTOWN A standing-room-only crowd attended an evening of Adirondack photography and mountain music held Aug. 1 as a fundraiser for the North Warren Bicentennial celebration.
More than 150 people filled the Chestertown Municipal Center for “An Adirondack Evening” which featured images of the Adirondacks created by nationally renowned outdoor photographer Carl Heilman II as well as two acclaimed musicians.
Audience members were awed by jazz musician and Emmy-nominated composer Casey Filiaci when he composed original music on the spot to go along with three of Heilman’s seasonal scenic photographs, event representative Margaret Holmes said.
Award-winning Adirondack folk singer Dan Berggren delighted everyone present with some old favorites as well as new favorites from his latest CD, “Tongues in Trees,”Holmes added.
Heilman, Filiaci and Berggren donated their time and talents for the event. All proceeds will go to the North Warren area’s celebration of the Warren County Bicentennial, a community festival to be held Saturday Aug. 24 on the Old Pottersville Fairgrounds.
The festivities start with a parade stepping off from the Pottersville firehouse at 1 p.m. The event features music through the day, plus more than 60 crafters and exhibits. The fest concludes with an extensive fireworks display. For details, see: northwarren200.com.
