Playground to be built this weekend

The Warrensburg Elementary Playground construction project will be underway this weekend, and volunteers are still needed to help out.

For those who haven’t already signed up to volunteer – it’s not too late! Just stop by the worksite at Warrensburg Elementary School, 1 James Street, between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Friday Aug. 9 and Sunday Aug. 11. Food items to fuel the work crew can be dropped off at the school on Friday and Saturday mornings between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. or so.

The existing playground, to be dismantled, is to be sent overseas and re-constructed for needy children.

Warrensburg school news

Classes are to resume at Warrensburg elementary and high schools at 8 a.m. on Wednesday after Labor Day, or Sept. 4.

In the meantime, save box tops, Labels for Education and Campbell’s soup labels so equipment can be purchased for Warrensburg Elementary School students. There are several convenient drop box locations to deposit these items: one is located in the main entryway of the elementary school, another at Richard’s Library on Elm St. in Warrensburg, one at Direct Deposit Redemption Center on Main St., and another at the Thurman Town Hall.
