— The local appearance of NBA star Jimmer Fredette, scheduled for 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Village Blacksmith Steakhouse at Fort William Henry Wednesday, August 7, has been cancelled. The Glens Falls native, currently playing Guard for the Sacramento Kings, was to greet fans and sign photographs.

After starring at Glens Falls High School, Fredette went on to play college basketball for Brigham Young University, where he set BYU career records for points (2,599), three-pointers (296), free throws (627). In his senior year, Fredette won nearly every national Player of the Year award for basketball.

Fort William Henry publicist James Hood said that the appearance was prompted by a change in Fredette's schedule.

"We are hoping to re-schedule with Jimmer in the future," Hood said in an e-mail.
