Pageant caps day two of Essex Co. fair

— While rain made its first appearance at the 165th Essex County Fair Aug. 1, it did not dampen the spirits of some of the fairs youngest competitors.

The first Angel Face Essex County Fair Beauty Pageant was held on the Denton Publications stage, with winners being named in several age categories as well as an overall King and Queen of the fair.

On Friday, Aug. 2, featured events include the annual pudding eating contest at 2 p.m. near the EMS building, along with the annual John Longware Memorial Pancake Supper.

At 6 p.m., Haulin’ Junk will present the annual rollover contest as well as the new figure 8 races, which will be followed by a fireworks show.
