Don’t miss the Westport Central School Drama Club’s performance of High School (Non) Musical, a parody of the Disney film High School Musical, this weekend. Showtimes are 7 p.m. on Friday, April 26, and Saturday, April 27, in the Bulles Auditorium. The all-star cast includes Rachel Abrahamsen, Chyenne Cramer, Sienna Fleury, Amanda Hinge, Hannah Looby, Talite Malafu, Tommy Maron, Lucy Misarski, Chloe Mitchell, Sydney Mitchell, Scarlett Moore, Jack Newbery, Kristen Orr, Gabe Schrauf, Danielle Schwoebel, Ellie Storey, Megan Sudduth, Evan Viens, Keragan Viens, Mattea Viens, and Eddie Westerkamp.

The story follows characters like Toy Boatin, Gaberella, Shitzu, Cryin Failure, and Mrs. Beckett von Shakespeare through the ins and outs of the high-school bowling championship, a live surgery competition (sure to amuse nervous mothers everywhere), and other misadventures. The show was written by Jonathan Dorf and this production is directed by Cathy Brankman and Paul Mudie.

Our little community has a big anniversary coming up. If you’re interested in serving on the Town of Westport’s 2015 Bicentennial Committee, call the Town Office at 962-8360, send them a letter of interest, or just stop by and let our Town Clerk, Sheila Borden, know. Planning for this exciting event is going to start soon, so if you’d like to take part now’s the time to get in on it.

Planning has also started for the Town Wide Yard Sale on Saturday, May 25, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. It will be widely advertised and maps will be available to the public. Residents can be added to the map for free, and businesses can be put on the map and have an ad for a small fee. Kelly Ecker is organizing this event, and you can drop her an email at kelleyecker@gmail.com or call her at 962-2984.

Westport outdoor guide Elizabeth Lee is sponsoring a talk at the Whallonsburg Grange on birding by noted birder Conor Stedman on May 3 at 7 p.m., followed by a field workshop the next day. The workshop is now full, but there’s a chance for a Sunday workshop if enough people are interested. Contact Elizabeth at lakeside5047@gmail.com as soon as possible.
