APA set to host annual Local Government Day

— The 16th Annual Adirondack Park Local Government Day Conference is scheduled for April 24 and 25 at the Crowne Plaza Resort in Lake Placid.

This year’s conference will focus on Adirondack Park economic development strategies and the promotion of projects that benefit rural economies.

New York State Senate and Assembly Members from the Adirondack Region will discuss issues that affect Adirondack communities during a luncheon forum on April 25. The conference will highlight community projects from around the Park and include presentations on infrastructure, entrepreneurial initiatives and municipal energy management.

Training workshops presented by the Department of State and other professions will provide valuable instruction, advice and CEO and CLE credits for local officials.

In addition, this year the Adirondack Park Excellence in Building Design Competition will take place. Categories include: Public/Semi Public Buildings; New Residential or Commercial Construction and; Rehabilitated Historical Buildings.

The event is presented by the Adirondack Park Agency, Adirondack Association of Towns and Villages, Adirondack Park Local Government Review Board, Empire State Development Corporation, New York State Department of State, and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.
