Good week for emails so I have plenty to report. First up, I received a series of short emails from Cindy Hart who owns Cindy Cuts barber shop located downtown on Front Street between the Library and Stewarts. She let me know that her first anniversary is coming up May first. So Wednesday May first stop down as she is giving a seven dollar haircut special that day. Besides the big anniversary day, Cindy’s Cuts is open seven days a week Monday through Friday from eight until five, Saturdays from seven until three and Sundays from nine until one. Congrats on your first anniversary and hopefully many more to come.

Next up MaryAnne Goff from the library informs me that the next story time at the Library will be Tuesday April 16th at 10 a.m. with the theme “April Showers Bring May Flowers.” Make sure to stop in as story time is always a lot of fun and very well done.

Last up, Chris Maron of the very active Champlain Area Trails emailed me about two very exciting up-coming events. First CATS is pleased to announce the opening of its first ever Photo Contest – A View from the Trails. Participants should submit photographs taken from a CATS trail and include a short twenty-five to one hundred word caption for each picture. The deadline is May fifteenth with the first place prize being selected by the contest judge and a people’s choice winner based on online votes. First place earns $250 while the People’s Choice winner earns $100.00. The other event will be an Earth Day Trail Project on Saturday afternoon, April 20th at 12:30. This will be a “pick up sticks hike” on the new Field and Forest Trail between Wadhams and the Bobcat Trail. Interested hikers should meet in Wadhams at the Dogwood Bakery. Please bring loppers, gloves and hand saws if you have, otherwise tools will be provided. This will be a great project for the whole family so please come out to enjoy a nice spring hike. Anyone interested in either event should get out CATS on their website champlainareatrails.com or call 962-2287.

Enjoy a safe and beautiful week.
