April events at Paul Smith’s VIC

— The VIC will be closed Mondays in April, Tuesday, April 9, and Tuesday, April 16, for staff development.

The Northern New York Maple Project continues at the Paul Smith's College VIC with maple sap collecting and boiling in the sugarhouse through Monday, April 8. Stop by to visit students working in the sugar bush and sugarhouse, adopt a maple tree or purchase a quart of maple syrup.

Friday-Sunday, April 5-7 – Watercolor Weekend at the VIC, a three-day workshop led by Karen LiVecchi. Create floral quilts inspired by watercolor techniques. LiVecchi will teach simple methods of blending and contrast using just three coordinating fabrics. In this workshop, you will create two quilt tops: the first a floral wreath, the second a creation of your own. Watercolor Field Sketch Techniques Demonstration by Tim Fortune from 10 a.m.-noon on Saturday, April 6.

Saturday, April 6 – Bird Box Workshops: Saw Whet Owl Boxes - join the Paul Smith's College Wildlife Society and Fish and Game Club at this workshop from 10 a.m. to noon. Learn about saw whet owls and assist in the construction of bird boxes that will be installed at the VIC later this spring. Free for Paul Smith's faculty and students, $5/person for all others. Sunday, April 7 – Bird Box Workshops: Wood Duck Boxes with Paul Smith's College Wildlife Society and Fish and Game Club for this workshop from 10 a.m. to noon and learn about wood ducks. Assist in the construction of bird boxes that will be installed on VIC property later this spring. Free for Paul Smith's faculty and students, $5/person for all others. Wednesday, April 10 – New Moon Art Show. This show, featuring Maria DeAngelo and Carol Murtagh, will be on display until May 16.
