Ticonderoga harriers remain perfect

Cross Country

Ticonderoga remained perfect in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference boys cross country action Oct. 16.

The Sentinels defeated Saranac Lake, 17-44, and beat Lake Placid, 17-39.

The locals dominated the meet, taking the top three places and five of the top seven.

Javeed Nazir, Tyler Belden and Shawn Silliman went 1-2-3 for the Sentinels, who will go for a perfect season next Tuesday against Beekmantown and AuSable Valley. Ti beat both teams earlier this season.

Jacob Young with sixth, Cody Parrott seventh, Brandon Charboneau 12th and Milo Stricker 14th for the Sentinels.

Ticonderoga topped Lake Placid, 15-50 and lost to Saranac Lake, 20-32, in the girls meet.

Naomi Forkas raced to sixth place to lead the Sentinels.

Ashline LaPerle was eight, Becky Barber 10th, Hannah Herbst 11th and Alaina Bevilacqua 14th for the local harriers.

Boys soccer

Crown Point 2, Keene 1

Crown Point used overtime to edge Keene, 2-1, in Northern Soccer League boys action Oct. 16.

Gabe Macey tallied both Panther scores. His first goal, with an assist from Joe Foote, gave Crown Point a 1-0 lead. His second, in the first overtime period, won the game.

Brendon Crowningshield made 12 saves in goal for the winners.
