Saranac Lake Voters will get a chance to learn more about the four people running for two open village trustee seats during a “Meet the Candidates” forum at 7 p.m. Monday, March 12 at the Harrietstown Town Hall.
The Valley News/Denton Publications will be co-hosting the event with the Adirondack Daily Enterprise, WNBZ and the Press-Republican. Staff from each media outlet will be invited to be on the panel, and the audience will have a chance to ask the candidates questions.
The four-year seats of Republicans Jeff Branch and John McEneany will be expiring at the end of March, and the two top vote-getters will start their terms April 1.
Branch is running for re-election with Mark Gillis on the Republican and Conservative tickets.
Barbara Rice and Paul Van Cott will be running on the Democratic and independent Unity Party tickets.
All are newcomers to village politics, except Branch.
McEneany did not get the Republican nod in the caucus earlier this year, and he decided not to run as an Independent.
The winners will join trustees Tom Catillaz (D) and Elias Pelletieri (C) at the board table with Mayor Clyde Rabideau (D).
The village elections will be held on Tuesday, March 20.
