continued The town and village have also sought coordination on funding new events with Occupancy Tax receipts. In the past, communication between the two entities on the merits and viability of the events has been inadequate, local leaders have said. The lack of coordination has hampered decisions on which events to fund, and how much. Town and village leaders have proposed jointly evaluating the occupancy tax funding requests.
Discussion at the meeting is also scheduled on funding the construction of the proposed skateboard park. The village has contributed $20,000, and Mayor Robert Blais is seeking for the town to contribute $10,000.
Also on the agenda is discussion concerning shared costs of the village's decision to pursue upgrades to its sewer plant totaling $900,000 or so. Last week the village voted to hire Chazen Engineering for $88,760 to devise a solution to its problem with excess nitrates in its effluent. The impact of this project -- as well as a proposed downtown hotel -- on the town's payments to the village for sewer treatment are likely to be discussed.
