Adirondack Lake fishing derby approaching

The annual ice fishing derby at Adirondack Lake kicks off at 7 a.m. Saturday, with registration opening at 5:30 a.m. Early registration is $30, day of $35.

— The annual ice fishing derby at Adirondack Lake Jan. 21 opens for registration at 5:30 a.m., with competition beginning at 7 a.m.

Advance registration costs $30, and day-of registration is $35. Registration is limited to 195 contestants.

Prizes will be awarded for perch and northern pike categories. The biggest pike of the day will net $200, and the biggest perch hooks $100.

Cash prizes will be awarded every hour, and contestants must have their fish weighed live. The last fish must be weighed in no later than 3:10 p.m. Up to five tip-ups and two hand lines can be used in the competition.

Door prizes will be awarded in drawing of registration numbers.

Take care not to wander onto the private property around the lake. Those found trespassing will be disqualified. Also a disqualification, registered contestants cannot fish alongside unregistered fishermen.

No vehicles over 1,000 pounds will be allowed on the ice. If the ice is deemed unsafe, cash and door prizes will be raffled to registered contestants. No refunds can be issued.
