Lewis Icy road conditions on Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 17, led to a number of accidents along Interstate 87, including a tractor trailer truck.
The truck slid off Interstate 87 at about 2 p.m. The New York State Police Officer on scene said the accident was caused by icy roads.
The tractor trailer truck was heading north on the Northway when it slid on the icy road and jackknifed into a ditch just off the Lewis on ramp. The driver was unharmed, and the vehicle was towed back onto the roadway by 3:30 p.m.
Shortly after, another vehicle also slid into a guard rail less than a quarter mile down the interstate, causing damage to the front.
The national weather service in Burlington issued a wind advisory for the Northern Adirondack area at about 12:30 p.m. and will be in effect until about 1 p.m. Wednesday afternoon. Precautionary measures are advised.
